This app was designed as part of a portfolio of work produced during the UX/UI Course at IronHack Berlin. The brief entailed the creation of a dashboard that could be incorporated into either a website or app.

We were inspired by the task of representing data describing a wine in a dashboard was both challenging and rewarding..

Through user research it was found that food and wine pairing was a subject where people felt the most pain points and where a dashboard would be beneficial.

Sweet Sommelier

The goal

user research

10 interviews were conducted with people from different areas of the wine industry, including the owner of a wine bar and a trained sommelier.

We discovered that there is a need for a sommeliers knowledge in many restaurants that do not have the resources to hire one.

We decided to design a B2B app that would tackle this problem and visualise data through a dashboard feature.

questions

how to compare and display 2-3 different wines with a balance between informative and visually appealing

Would it be used by the staff or a manager? Would the interaction be at the table with the guests or at the bar? kitchen?

Upload food and wine to the app and it will generate pairings for you how many options will be generated per meal?

Suggest new wines to add? if so how?

Our user

Our intended user is a restaurant owner who

is interested in the benefits of a full time sommelier but does not have the time or money to employ one.

This means the app must primarily pair food and wine together, suggest new wines to add to the wine card, and lastly inform the staff about the wines and what makes them special.

The most common device used in restaurants would be a Tablet of some kind, so we decided to focus on tablet app format.
